3D-printable of StellarMateX VESA Mount |

Some months ago I decited to enlarge my long time hobby "Astronomy" into "Astrophotography". I actually never planned to do so ...
because of the money, you simply can countersink in such a change from watching to doing photographs of all the things above us.
But then, I came over a bunch of bucks by selling my vinyl and CD collction and so I decited to exchange this all in a big collection
of filters, some cameras, IT equipment, eyepieces, reducers, barlows, a hyperstar, a mount and a monster of a ... a Celestron Edge HD
14inch. I didn't really outline what will come around the corner, did I? |

The plan was to buy all the needed stuff via second hand and don't try to buy it 'like new' - just to save some money in the end.
I now wonder, how quick it all went up and the things came together over the last couple of months each after each. Recently I started
thinking about the hardware stuff, which should steer the entire equipment to bring it all to automation. I've checked several
places and pages and came over Stellarmate and their StellarMateX variant and recognised, I've already had the very similar mini PC
they ship out as that Astro-cross-platform since several years. Quickly occupied the mini PC from my office and thought it would be a
good idea to use it for my astrophotography project. Changed the Windows OS disk, which was working in there with a used M.2 disk, that
was lying around and installed StellarMate OS on it, I've bought online from StellarMate.com. |

The both things what were missing from a regular shipped StellarMateX package, is an additional Vixen/Losmandy clamp (which can be
ordered quickly from every Astro dealer next to you) and a VESA mount [previous picture] (that always comes with a StellarMateX package).
Getting the latter separately went into a big problem. StellarMate can't ship this part single cause they never ordered them separaely
or even planned to sell those separately from their packed StellarMateX PCs. |

So in the end - a 3D-printable solution was needed and build in a day. Not as beautiful as it's iron twin from the original package,
but it will do the job.
After the work was done and it complete construction was fitting on the Starwatcher mount, I decited to put the 3D-printable online for all, who are in the very same situation and need a solution. The downside is very little, cause everybody need to get four longer M6 screws with a lenghth of 16 milimeters (compared to those 12 milimeter onces, which came with the orange Vixen/Losmandy clamp package), some additional two M2 screws to get the 3D-printable piece on the backside of the mini PC and finally four M6 nuts, which will fit exactly in the 3D-print-out holes. Here's the D/L link for the 3D-printable version in common stl-format. The download is packed as ZIP file: | ||
